February 2010 ....Just as I was enjoying some spring-like weather, I now hear that we might get 8-12 inches of snow over the weekend! Weather forecasts have improved in their accuracy over the years, but there’s still a dimension of the unknown in them. But that’s not only true for weather, it’s true for life. It’s all a journey, and while Christians can rejoice in our ultimate destination, we don’t know all the stops, detours, speed bumps, accidents and scenery we’ll encounter along the way. That’s one reason we have called our quest to pursue missional faithfulness: “Living the Journey.” We’re now at another stage in living out West End’s journey to be the church and to do the work of the church. Our second phase of prayer groups is now beginning. After the share & prayer triplets of last year, there is a strong sense that God is calling us to mission work in our community, within our congregation, and in our own personal life of faith. This season of prayer groups will be seeking more guidance from God about how we follow God’s call here at West End. Please keep this venture in your prayers, for God does have a plan for West End on this corner of St. James and West Washington! It is an exciting time as we connect with God, with one another, and with our community. (TFI)
